The extensive sports programs at the universities in the United States help athletes achieve an excellent level of competition and at the same time obtain a college degree. In this way, they secure a successful professional future and can practice the sport they love in a focused manner during their academic training.
The level of competition at US colleges is very demanding and strong and is often a springboard to professional sports. It's not about having to decide between professional sports or a university degree. A scholarship in the USA offers the opportunity to maintain the dream of becoming a professional athlete during academic training.

It already has a long tradition that the US university system rewards the best students by offering unprecedented opportunities for professional development. In addition, the universities offer a wide range of high-level sports as well as first-class facilities and teachers. The selection and quality of sports trainers is also exemplary. The latter also applies to the sense of entitlement at the universities - in connection with the various sports. The general status of a college athlete is highly regarded.

The selection for students is extremely extensive, whether it is full or partial scholarships, academic or athletic, whereby a combination of both is also possible.

It is mainly about covering tuition fees, but also study materials, such as books and accommodation. The percentage of cost coverage depends on the scholarship allocated to the student.

The evaluation for this is fundamentally based on how the overall picture of academic qualifications, test results, athletic skills and nationwide classification is pronounced.
Basically, there are three exams and the required score for applying for a scholarship depends on what requirements the respective universities expect. These are first the American College Test (ACT), then the Suit of Assessments (SAT) and finally the Test of English as a Foreign Language, such as Duolingo, IELTS and TOEFL, the latter being required only for those whose mother tongue is not English.
The ACT consists of four tests: English, mathematics, reading and natural sciences. The scores for each section (from 1 to 36) are determined after incorrect answers have been rejected. Therefore, only the correct answers count to the score. The SAT comprises a total of two main sections: reading and writing and mathematics. Each section leads to a score on the 200-800 scale, and the total score is calculated by adding the respective scores. The TOEFL assesses the ability to use and understand English in an academic environment.
It is an admission requirement for non-native speakers and can therefore be taken from anywhere in the world. It is now customary to take the online exam in the iBT version. The rating is on a scale of 0 to 120 points and includes four main sections: writing, reading, listening and speaking. Each test taker receives a score from 0 to 30, and the individual results of the four sections are added to determine the total score.

It is very common at the age of 15 or 16 to start dealing intensively with which university you want to study at. However, it does not hurt to think about it even earlier and to obtain essential background information.
Especially with regard to certain basic requirements, it is often helpful for ambitious young people to take preventive measures to promote their own further development. This can affect the academic part, as well as the sporting part or mental areas.
About three years before the planned start of the course of study, it is then advisable to familiarize yourself more thoroughly with various rules, examinations and forms. The motto here is: The earlier you deal with a certain selection of universities (depending on an academic or rather sports-oriented preference), the better the chances of getting the best possible offer. Early contact with the respective trainers at the universities can also have a promising effect on obtaining a scholarship.
It is generally the ambition of every college coach to look for athletes who can be really successful in the sports program. Therefore, in addition to the playful talent, the coaches also prefer the right attitude of the young athletes, namely to want to work hard and show the necessary spirit to be able to achieve the best possible results for themselves and the team. In addition, an excellent academic record should complete the overall picture during the study period.
For the sporting part as well as for the academic part, appropriate motivation, awareness, determination, resilience and, above all, discipline are required.
Those who have such qualities or demonstrate basic skills will satisfy every college coach and thus be best able to achieve their college degree.
